Join the Fight Against Parkinson'sHonor Brother Jerry Herman

Dear Brothers:

On September 7, 2019, a group calling itself “The Hermanators” will assemble in Old Orchard Beach, ME to participate in the 12th Annual New England Parkinson’s Ride.  It is a labor of love organized by Jerry’s wife, Linda, and all funds raised by cyclists will benefit The Michael J. Fox Foundation for research toward a cure.

Jerry, was initiated into Beta Pi Chapter in 1972 and elected Chapter SMC in 1974, during what some of us more mature brothers refer to as the ‘good ole days’.  Many younger initiates also know Jerry through his dedicated service to the Chapter, including his presentation of the Dave Herman Award (named for Jerry’s father) at our annual Founders’ Day Dinner, regular Homecoming attendance , and service on the Endowment Committee of the Pike Foundation.  Jerry is also known for his involvement in the University’s Netter Center, tireless support of camping for underprivileged kids and countless other philanthropic activities. He lives just outside Washington, DC and worked for years in New York City, so he is well known to alumni in both cities.

What you may not know is that Jerry will soon be entering the 10th year of his courageous battle against Parkinson’s Disease.  Many of you may not be aware that Jerry has Parkinson’s because he has fought the disease so hard and well, and always with a smile on his face and a question about how you are doing.  We were honored to precede and succeed Jerry as Chapter SMC during the 1970s and know him as an incredible friend and an outstanding brother, epitomizing the principles of φφka.

We ask for your support by honoring Jerry with your contribution of any amount to fight this serious disease.  Please visit the donation page today, and let us know if you wish to join the team to ride in early September.

Thanks so much for your support.
